Exhibition. Sophie Horton and Cathy de Monchaux, Goldsmiths Gallery, London.

"For Sophie.Horton... modernist building types symbolises the multinational corporations, those key institutions for the channelling of capital and the systematic exploitation of natural resources, which occupy them in a world wide chain. She remakes these building forms in the materials of the scrap yard and the market stall. Her sculptures present images of corporate power, money and style brought down to earth with a bump... She sees her intention as to debunk what she terms "the patriarchal formalist hegemony."
